Canoe Clubs

Please Note, Most of these clubs also arrange Pool sessions including instruction in kayak rolling through the winter months see websites for details.

In addition most of the Surf-lifesaving clubs in Cornwall (e.g. Portreath, Hayle, Perranporth, Porthtowan, Newquay) have an active paddling section using racing skis. They have produced some of the best racing kayak paddlers in Cornwall such as Jenna Hawkey who represents Great Britain internationally and recently won the 2km event of the National indoor kayaking championship at Brunel University.



Bude Canoe Club

Main activities are surf kayaking, recreational paddling, canoe polo, plus paddle the odd river or two whenever there's sufficient water.
Also run or participate in other events such as river trips, surf competitions, polo competitions, and the occasional social event (Beach BBQs, Annual Dinner...in addition the compulsory after session beer every Wednesday).

They run courses to get you kayaking, and develop your skills up to 3*. Boats available for members / courses.

This club focuses on Flat water racing but also runs courses to get you kayaking, and develop your skills. Also Social Activities.
The club shares a superb newly built premises with the rowing club heated changing, hot showers, bar the works.

Although not having a clubhouse the club has access to Hayle Harbour, and the famous Sluice - a Tidal powered whitewater play wave, (otherwise tricky to access due to the activities of the ING which owns Hayle Harbour).
They run courses to get you kayaking, and develop your skills up to 3*. Boats available for members / courses.

    Truro & Hayle Kayak Racing Club
    Meet at Malpas (Truro) near the Heron Pub
    Saturday, Sunday and Tuesday mornings

    This small club focuses entirely on flat water racing. The members train Saturday and/or Sunday mornings and compete in kayak marathon races throughout the spring, summer and autumn.
    There is a Youth section, for which there is an instructor.
    The club has the capacity to lend the specialist boats required for flat water racing for a limited period.
